VESSEL BASIC DESIGN
Offshore Projects Consultants provides concept and basic design services for vessels and floating structures, developing practical designs from initial operational requirements through to a level suitable for class review, specification and detailed design.
Our approach combines naval architecture, structural engineering and practical vessel experience to ensure that the design is not only compliant, but also efficient to build, operate and maintain.

Our Capabilities
OPC can support vessel design projects including:
- Concept development and principal dimension selection
- Hull form development and optimisation
- General arrangement development
- Weight estimation and weight control
- Hydrostatics and intact and damage stability analysis
- Tank arrangement and capacity development
- Structural design and scantling development
- Machinery and equipment arrangement
- Evaluation of operational loading conditions
- Class and statutory compliance
- Production of class approval drawings
- Development of technical and fabrication specifications
From Operational Requirement to Vessel Design
The design process starts by understanding how the vessel will actually be used. Operating area, payload, draft restrictions, equipment, endurance, speed, stability and regulatory requirements are considered together to establish an efficient vessel configuration.
OPC uses 3D modelling and naval architecture software throughout the design process, allowing hull form, arrangement, weights, stability and structure to be developed together and design changes to be assessed efficiently.

Deliverables
Depending on project requirements, OPC can provide:
- 3D vessel and hull models
- General arrangement drawings
- Lines plans and hydrostatic information
- Stability calculations and reports
- Structural drawings and calculations
- Tank plans and capacity information
- Weight and centre of gravity reports
- Class and statutory approval drawings
- Vessel technical and fabrication specifications
OPC can support a project from an initial vessel concept through basic design and approval, or provide individual naval architecture packages as part of a wider design team.
